i2’s Continuing Partnership with Tommy Lee Produces Another Great Restaurant in Denver
Teaming with Denver restaurateur Tommy Lee – the man behind popular ramen destination Uncle 2.0 in LoHi – i2 Construction was the negotiated general contractor for this adaptive reuse project in RiNo. Hop Alley is an 1,850 SF, 57 seat restaurant that emphasizes a modern, clutter-free environment to showcase Lee’s regional Chinese menu and forward-thinking craft cocktail, beer and wine list. Unique project elements included Japanese burnt wood shou sugi ban walls, custom concrete counters at the bar and a full commercial kitchen with a wood burning grill. i2 was engaged very early in the design process to work with key subcontractors in a design-assist manner. As part of this relationship, i2’s pre-construction team led multiple rounds of budget and value engineering initiatives to ensure that the project was completed with the ownership team’s budget and quality goals in mind.
