Nashville-based HCP, Inc., one of the country’s largest healthcare REITs and owner of Englewood’s Swedish Medical Center, selected i2 Construction as the general contractor for Hand Surgery Associates, P.C.’s new office at 601 E. Hampden Avenue. This facility encompasses approximately 10,000 SF of traditional medical office space in addition to a 6,000 SF ambulatory surgery center. Key features of the project include a new rooftop air handling unit, generator, updated power system and new transformer, medical gas system coordination, egress overhaul with fire rating for life safety to meet health certifications, upgraded elevator systems to work with fire alarm, and security (all tying to generator backup) along with numerous additional upgrades for the more than 50-year-old base building. Infectious Control Risk Assessment and Interim Life Safety Measures were paramount throughout the construction process.
